Estimates and quotes
Two words that often get mixed up. This is how we use them.
What is an estimate?
Our best guide to the likely cost before we have seen everything, for example before we can get onto the roof. It can change once the full extent of the work is known.
What is a quote?
A fixed price for a defined scope of work. If the scope stays the same, the price stays the same.
When can a quote change?
Only if the scope changes, for example if rotten sarking or timbers are found once the roof is opened up. We show you photos and agree any change before doing the extra work.

Frequently asked questions
Are quotes free?
Yes for most jobs. For complex or heritage buildings needing a detailed inspection before pricing, we may charge an inspection fee and will tell you before booking it.
Can you advise from photos?
Often, yes. Clear photos of the roof and the damaged area let us give a first opinion and sometimes a guide price before a visit. We confirm the price once we have seen the roof.
Do I need to be at home for the inspection?
Not always. If we can reach the roof without entering the property we can inspect and send photos. For tenements we may need access to the common stair or roof hatch.
Do you work on tenements and shared roofs?
Yes. We can price the work for one owner or for all owners, and send the quote and photos to everyone involved or to your factor.
Do you cover my area?
We work across Edinburgh and the surrounding areas. If you are further out, get in touch and we will tell you whether we can help.
Do you offer an emergency service?
If water is coming in, call 0131 235 1019. We do not run a 24-hour call-out, but we will tell you straight away when we can attend.
